Have you ever noticed that children have no problems watching the same movies or shows OVER, and OVER again? Let’s take a closer look at what’s really going on when the DVD seems to be stuck on repeat!
When children watch the same things repeatedly they are committing them to memory. In martial arts, the same lessons are practiced again and again until each individual skill set is mastered. To learn a song, a musician must listen to and play the same song over, and over.
Do you see a pattern, here?
The key to building your mental muscle and learning all there is to learn about a topic is to receive the information until you have it practically memorized.
Here’s a video that will help explain what I mean…
The 5 Steps to More Efficient Learning:
1. Repetition – read/watch the material until you gain:
2. Familiarity - when you become familiar with the subject matter, you will gain:
3. Confidence – once you’ve achieved confidence, you are prepared to take the appropriate:
4. Action - and action, folks, begets:
5. Results -measure your results so that you may improve them, and then repeat the process!
Too many people today are “Locust Marketers.” They rush through their learning material, taking what they can glean from the surface, moving on to the next thing that comes along. This practice makes it nearly impossible to commit the material to memory … unless you have a photographic memory, of course!
Just like with crops growing on a farm, the locusts lay waste to the fields when they breeze through. It’s only when the farmer, through hard work and diligence, thoroughly harvests his fields that the full potential of the crops is realized.
These lessons, and most others, were designed to be studied and committed to memory,so that you may draw from them as needed, instead of rushing through them and potentially missing out on key information.
Time To Take Action!
What was the last information, be it a book, a seminar, a training tip from this site, or anything else, that really helped you achieve results in your business, but you haven’t repeated? Or, maybe you haven’t reached a desired level of success due to some road block…
